Dirt Cheap Music

I have recently aligned myself with the folks over at Dirt Cheap Music. The guys are pretty cool, and — hey! — my music is dirt cheap.

Anyway, check it out!

Oh, and while I’m at it, let me reiterate a plug for my other favorite musical gang over at Spewgrass!

Secret Chiefs 3 - Second Grand Constitution…

Album-of-the-week: 4-28-04

Secret Chiefs 3 is Mr. Bungle minus Mike Patton. This album is a positively insane instrumental genre-hopper. Killer.

 Audio: Dinga Da Donga
project: Starfinger
mp3: starfinger/starfinger-dinga_da_donga.mp3 (m3u)

The aforementioned Starfinger song Dinga Da Donga is up at songfight’s red fight.

Lots of quality submissions for this fight, so check ‘em out and vote for your favorite!

*EDIT2: I won the Dinga Da Donga fight!

Kid Koala - Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Album-of-the-week: 4-20-04

Kid Koala is amazing. In honor of having just ordered his new CD, I thought I’d mention his great first album here.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is a hilarious masterpiece by a virtuoso turntablist. This is not some limp DJ Mix album. It is the sound of the future.

*EDIT: Oh, and by the way, there’s a cool comic book in the CD packaging.

MtS — Spoken Word

A real cool songfight regular, Jon Eric — aka Generic — just recorded a spoken word version of my More Than Soup. It’s hilariously awesome.

Check it out.

His site is at generic.songhole.org, but it appears to be content-free at the moment. He has quite a few songs in the songfight archive, though.

Thanks a lot, Jon Eric.

Starfinger is Back!

This is just forewarning that Starfinger is back to Songfight this week! The fights are going up tomorrow for some reason, but I keep listening to the track and I wanted to generate some hype.

Dinga Da Donga is the title I chose.

Word to your lovely mothers.

The Apes - Oddeyesee

Album-of-the-week: 4-13-04

Do you like organs? I have an arsenal of organ-related album recommendations at my disposal, but this one has climbed to the top of the tower and is wildly swinging at models of helicopters to get your attention.

I’m talking crazy talk, because this album by The Apes is rewiring my brain. I guess it’s experimental punk, with the electric guitars having been replaced by organs. The result is something exciting, unique and downright bad ass — assuming, of course, that you’re not too boring for this kind of music.

Remix Starfinger

Everybody’s second favorite Starfinger track Please Don’t Call Me Ken is the subject of the newest RemixFight.

It’s due May 15, so get cracking!
