Do the Lynndie

It’s good to see that something productive came out of that Abu Ghraib fiasco:

the Stealth Lynndie

A lot of these images are disappointing though. Surely they can get more tasteless than this.

Free Flat Screen

I decided to give FreeFlatScreens.com a shot.

I know it seems a little shady — a little too pyramid-scheme-like. But Wired did an article on the company running these promotions, and it suddenly seemed worth trying.

Here’s how it works: They have a list of sponsors with various trial offers. I had to sign up for one of these, and now I have to get 8 people to do the same thing. Then I get a free flat screen monitor or TV of my choice from their list of offerings.

Maybe I’ve just sold my soul to the horrible corporate machine that is ruining our internet, but hey — I think I prefer this to normal advertising. Especially if I actually get a new monitor out of the deal.

Anyway, check it out, and consider signing up. It seems like a low-risk proposition.

A lot of the trial offers are pretty crappy. I wanted to do one that didn’t require a credit card, but the only ones with that option were for AOL, and I didn’t want to condone that! Maybe it’s a good way to go if they let you cancel without ever installing the software.

I decided to go with the Rhapsody trial. I know Real is only slightly less evil than AOL, but this actually seems really cool. I could see myself actually paying for this if I used Windows more often.

A friend of mine is starting a FreeFlatScreens Conga Line to help people find new referrals, if you decide to give this a shot. (Please do, I want my monitor!)

Anyway, that’s my spiel.

Forgive me, but I’m posting this on kongbalong too.

Tribal Sovereignty

Politics and agendas aside… Regardless of political affiliation…

How did such a dope become the president???

There’s no excuse for such retardedness!

At least the secret societies running the planet have a sense of humor.

Rabbit in the Moon - Remixes

Albums-of-the-weeks: 8-17-04

I’m probably not going to have the opportunity to post one of these next week, so I’m killing two birds with one stone here. Besides, these should really be available as a double CD set.

Rabbit in the Moon is probably my favorite [commercial] remixing entity. These two disks reinvent material from across the pop spectrum, with tracks by Sarah McLachlan, Garbage, White Zombie, Smashing Pumpkins, and more!

Well that was a dorky sentence. They are definitely worth checking out.

Now that’s [F]Art!

A Human Masterpiece

For the record (and slightly unrelated) I’m glad it’s not against the law to tattoo pigs.

Songfight Green

I encourage everyone to listen to the Green Fight this week.

Miss Georgia

Well shucks, I guess I missed the pageant on TV this year. Luckily some kind soul has put the results up here on the internet. Whoopdy doo!

Gay Guy

Well, the NJ Governor is gay. Big deal!

I guess he couldn’t let another Anal Sex Month go by without telling the world.

He looks pretty gay to me.
