The Mountaineers — Messy Century

Album-of-the-week: 1-5-06

Hey, it’s the album of the week! I decided to take a break, and not do one of these in 2005. At this rate, I should probably call this the album of the year, but I’m not prepared to heap such glorious praise.

This is infectious britpop with heavy heavy electronic influences. Imagine remixes of the Beatles or maybe Oasis (in a good way). Catchy, wonderfully produced, in album form, one of my Christmas presents — I heartily recommend.

Yah, a song of theirs came up on Pandora and I really liked it. Wrote down the band name and even put an asterix next to it. It’s good to see you recommend them as well.

Yeah, Pandora is where I heard them. I wonder if there is more than one song by these guys on there. I was surprised to hear the britpoppiness of the album, since the Pandora song I heard was one of the more totally electronic pieces. Regardless, this album is great.

I should try and check these out based on the cool album artwork alone! And yay for the return of Album of the Week. I for one have missed it.
