Album-of-the-week: 8-22-07

It’s time for the quasi-annual Album-of-the-week! This is the brand new KMFDM album, and it will rock your pants off. Check out some tracks at their official myspace page.

Simultaneously heavy, funky, german and silly — this is one of their best albums yet.

The best part? It still sounds like KMFDM! Twenty years of conceptual continuity, baby.

What does tohuvabohu mean? It’s apparently the Hebrew word used in Genesis (you know, the Bible), indicating pre-creation chaos. Perhaps you’ve seen it translated as “formless and void”.

Atlanta, normally a brutal and twisted city, proved super-duper for Song Fight! Live this year.

Recordings should emerge sooner or later, but for now please enjoy this picture of me during the Brainpipe performance.

Aye carumba! Monday is the first day of classes. I must admit that returning to school after 9 years is a bit intimidating.

I’m glad that I’ve had the opportunity to work there over the summer. I can only imagine how bent-out-of-shape I’d be if I had to show up for the first time on Monday.

Anyway, the classes should be fun. They are all very project-heavy, and I’m hoping that working on things that are not internet-related will help me enjoy programming once again.

I’m trying to move from AIM to jabber, since the thought of not being tethered to AOL is pretty nice.

Anyway, I’m logging into aim using a jabber gateway, so aim:kongbalong should continue to work, for those of you afraid to jump aboard the jabber-wagon.

Heuristics Inc and myself will be doing some Starfinger, Heuristics Inc and Brainpipe songs as part of SongFight! Live: Rebels & Trebles at ISP Records in Atlanta.
